Barça Defender Jeremy Mathieu Set for Knee Surgery
Barcelona has confirmed that Jeremy Mathieu will undergo surgery after he endured knee damage playing for France now.
Mathieu replaced Patrice Evra at halftime from the 4-2 friendly make an impression on Russia on Tuesday but was withdrawn just eight minutes later with obvious discomfort.
The 32-year-old has since gone through tests that have confirmed an incomplete tear from the meniscus of his right knee. He’ll come with an operation on Thursday.
“The club will subsequently issue an announcement to describe caused by this operation,” Barcelona confirmed inside a statement.
Mathieu could now face several days around the sidelines, meaning he could miss the rest of Barca’s season and have to sit out his home Euro 2016 finals.
